Devlin commits to Princeton University

Coquitlam Express defender Ian Devlin has committed to playing NCAA Division I hockey at Princeton University in September 2023.

The 2002-born product of Memphis, TN had four goals and 22 points in 54 games as an alternate captain for the Express this season.

Kings add Dashevsky for 2022-23 season

The Powell River Kings announced the commitment of 2004-born forward Marcus Dashevsky for the 2022-23 BCHL season.

Dashevsky, who’s from Richmond, BC, tallied 12 goals and 33 points in 36 games with St. George’s School U18 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Cents confirm Waterfield’s hiring and add Steel to coaching staff

The Merritt Centennials confirmed the hiring of Sam Waterfield (two goals, six assists in 35 games with Burnaby, Nanaimo, and Prince George from 2009-11) as associate coach and assistant general manager on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old from Victoria, BC was an assistant coach with Cowichan Valley in 2021-22 after spending the previous season in the same role with Grande Prairie of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Cents also announced that Tyler Steel (48-44-0, 2.81 goals-against average, .906 save percentage, nine shutouts in 105 games with Merritt from 2010-13) has joined the club as its goaltending coach.

Steel, 29, last played senior men’s hockey for the Rosetown Red Wings in the Allan Cup Hockey West in 2017-18 before retiring. The job with the Centennials is the first foray of record into coaching for the Vernon, BC product.

Rabbit inks a two-year extension with the Bulldogs

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have signed assistant coach Wacey Rabbit to a two-year contract extension through the 2023-24 BC Hockey League season. 2021-22 was the 35-year-old’s first season as an assistant coach to Bulldogs general manager and head coach Joe Martin.

Rabbit, who’s from Lethbridge, AB, announced his retirement in August 2021 after a 15-year professional career that saw him play in eight different leagues, including 309 games in the American Hockey League.
