Victoria Grizzlies schedule profile

The BCHL has released the 2024-25 season schedule and for the Victoria Grizzlies, they open their regular season on the road in Powell River on Sept. 20 and 21.

This isn’t the first time Victoria has opened its season on the road. Last season, the Grizzlies opened their regular season in Surrey.

This article will profile the Grizzlies upcoming 2024-25 season so let’s start with their first and last games.

Beginnings and endings

As stated above, the Grizzlies start their regular season in Powell River. After playing two games in Powell River, the Grizzlies play their home opener on Sept. 27 against Alberni Valley. However, it’s not the first time their home opener has been against the Bulldogs.

On Oct. 8, 2021, the Grizzlies opened their season against the Bulldogs, and one year later, Victoria hosted Alberni Valley on Sept. 23, 2022.

In 2024-25, the Grizzlies last regular season home game is March 22 against the Bulldogs. Overall, their last regular season game is March 29.

The Grizzlies finish their regular season visiting the Coquitlam Express. It’s just like their final games of the 2023-24 season when the Grizz wrapped things up with a pair of games in Coquitlam.

Matches against the Coastal East and West Divisions

Victoria’s first game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals is Sept. 28 and six days later it plays its first game against the Nanaimo Clippers. Their final games against the Clippers and Caps come later in March.

The Grizzlies final game against Cowichan is March 7 and a day later, they lock horns with Nanaimo for the last time in the regular season. As for Powell River, the Grizzlies final game against the Kings is on March 1 and Victoria’s last match against the Bulldogs comes on March 22. The Grizz play seven total games against their Coastal West Division rivals.

In October, the Grizzlies play their first games against Coastal East teams. On Oct. 25 and 26, the Grizzlies host the Surrey Eagles and Langley Rivermen. On Nov. 16, the Grizzlies play their first game of the season against the Coquitlam Express. Six days later, the Grizzlies host the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs.

On Nov. 1 and 2, the Grizzlies travel to Prince George to play two games against the Spruce Kings. It will be the first time Victoria has traveled north to Prince George since October 2022. The Grizzlies host the Spruce Kings twice with the first game in December and the second in February. Victoria will play four games against the Coastal East Division teams.

Unique matchups

In October, the Grizzlies host Trail for their only game against the Smoke Eaters and in March, they visit Cranbrook for their lone game of the season against the Bucks. Also in October, Victoria heads to Vernon to face the Vipers and a month later, it welcomes West Kelowna. The Grizzlies don’t play against the Penticton Vees or the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at all during the 2024-25 season.

Victoria doesn’t play any games against the five Alberta teams in 2024-25. The only way the Grizzlies could possibly play the Alberta teams is if they — and one of the Alberta clubs — make it to the Fred Page Cup Finals.
