Capitals bring in defenseman Toder from MJHL’s Dauphin Kings

 

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have acquired 2000-born defenseman Layne Toder from the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

Toder played one game with the Kings this season and posted an assist after being acquired from the Portage Terriers in a late October trade. He had two assists in six games with the Terriers before the trade to Dauphin.

The product of Elkhorn, Manitoba is a veteran of 164 games in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen between 2017 and 2020. During his WHL career, he put up five goals, 27 points, and 114 penalty minutes.

He also played 17 games with Portage in 2019-20 and notched five assists. Toder started his junior hockey career with the Terriers as a 16-year-old in 2016-17 and scored a respectable 11 goals and 28 points in 44 games.
