BCHL Today: Fox goes from Cranbrook to PG, Djurasevic heads to Merrimack College, and more!

 

Bucks trade Fox to Prince George

The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired 2002-born forward Nathan Fox from the Cranbrook Bucks in exchange for future considerations.

Fox, who’s from Okotoks, AB, had five points in 15 games with Cranbrook during the 2020-21 BC Hockey League pod season. He’s also played three games in the Alberta Junior Hockey League during his career.

Djurasevic commits to Merrimack College

The Penticton Vees announced on Monday that 2002-born defenseman Frank Djurasevic has committed to playing NCAA hockey at Merrimack College starting next September.

The New Rochelle, NY product is into his second season with the Vees after posting nine points in 20 games as a rookie in 2020-21. He has two assists through two games so far in 2021-22.

According to the BCHL college commitments page, Djurasevic is the 13th member of this season’s Penticton roster to commit to an NCAA school.

Black, Wood, and Tattle earn BCHL stars

Nanaimo Clippers goaltender Cooper Black, Victoria Grizzlies forward Matthew Wood, and Coquitlam Express forward Ryan Tattle are the inaugural BCHL three stars of the week for the 2021-22 season.

Black, 20, went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .958 save percentage to guide the Clippers to two straight wins to open the new season.

16-year-old Wood led all BCHL rookies last week with five points (three goals, two assists) to help the Oilers record a pair of wins.

Tattle had a goal and five assists in two games against Langley and Chilliwack as Coquitlam earned a split on opening weekend.

Lucchini traded in the AHL from Laval to Belleville

Forward Jake Lucchini (48 goals, 69 assists in 168 games with Trail from 2012-15) was traded from the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket to the Belleville Senators for future considerations on Monday. He is currently on a one-year AHL contract for 2021-22.

Lucchini, a 26-year-old from Trail, BC, is a veteran of 104 AHL games over the last two and a half seasons with the Rocket and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. During that span, he has 20 goals and 13 assists.

Topping assigned to Orlando of the ECHL

Salt Spring Island, BC native Kyle Topping (five goals, seven assists in 53 games with Cowichan Valley in 2015-16) has been assigned by the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL to the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.

Topping, 21, had one goal in four games with the Barracuda last season. The forward also split 31 ECHL games between Allen and Orlando, finishing with eight goals and 23 points.
