Vipers forward Holt commits to the University of Saskatchewan

Vernon Vipers forward Dawson Holt is taking his game to the University of Saskatchewan for the 2020-21 season. He spent parts of six seasons in the Western Hockey League before joining the Vipers.

In 41 games in Vernon last season, Holt had 23 goals and 24 assists. In 208 career WHL games, Saskatoon product posted 25 goals and 54 assists along with 137 penalty minutes.

Holt upped his game in the playoffs, putting up nine points in Vernon’s first-round win over Wenatchee this season. He had 24 points in 29 career WHL playoff games.

Ramsey re-signs with Rockford IceHogs

Defenceman Jack Ramsey (26 goals, 37 assists in 111 games with Penticton from 2013-15) has signed a one-year contract extension with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Ramsey, 24, spent 2019-20 with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL, where he notched two goals and eight assists in 46 games. It was his first pro season after four years at the University of Minnesota.

The Chanhassen, Minnesota blueliner was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 7th round, 208th overall at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

First Star: Chiefs forward Jordan Kawaguchi scored the winning goal shorthanded as Chilliwack beat Portage 2-1 in game five of the round-robin portion of the 2017 Western Canada Cup.

Second Star: Chiefs forward Tommy Lee opened the scoring for Chilliwack 5:08 into the second period.

Third Star: Terriers forward James McIsaac had Portage’s lone goal in the loss.

Honourable Mentions: Chiefs forward Will Calverley assisted on Kawaguchi’s winner. Chilliwack goaltender Mark Sinclair made 27 saves.
