BCHL Today: Littler steps down as Wild head coach and Canada West falls in WJAC exhibition

Winds of change in Wenatchee as Littler steps down as coach

For the first time since the 2011-12 season, the Wenatchee Wild have a coach not named Bliss Littler. The Wild announced that Littler has stepped down from the head coaching position due to health concerns.

Littler is the winningest coach in American junior hockey history. Assistant coach Chris Clark takes over the head job in the interim.

Russia beats Canada West in WJAC exhibition opener

Coquitlam Express forward Massimo Rizzo and Trail Smoke Eaters forward Kent Johnson scored for Canada West as part of a three goal first period, but Russia scored six unanswered to win 6-3 in World Junior A Championship exhibition action Thursday night.

Canada West opens the tournament on Saturday against the United States. It’s a 6 pm PST start.

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
