BCHL Today: Cents trade leading scorer, Friday’s Three Stars, Trade Tracker launches

Merritt moves top scorer to Nanaimo

The Merritt Centennials continued to tinker with their roster on Friday, sending leading point getter Josh Kagan to Nanaimo in exchange for Evan Benwell and future considerations.

Since being acquired from Cowichan Valley late September, Kagan had 22 points (15 goals, seven assists) in 22 games for the Cents. He scored in his first game for the Clippers last night.

Benwell is on the move for the second time in a week and a half. The native of Toronto was acquired by the Clippers from Humboldt of the SJHL back on Nov. 27 and had no points in three games with Nanaimo. Prior to joining the Clippers, Benwell had two assists in three games with the SJHL’s Notre Dame Hounds.
