BCHL Today: Wild add Cafarelli for 2021-22, Peters goes from Powell River to junior B, and more!

Cafarelli joins the Wild for 2021-22

The Wenatchee Wild signed 2003-born forward Anthony Cafarelli for the 2021-22 season. The centre from Middleton, MA spent this past season with the Cape Cod Whalers 18U AAA.

In 32 games with the Whalers, Cafarelli posted nine goals and 26 points. He was selected in the 1st round, 2nd overall, by the Saint John Sea Dogs in the 2019 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League American Draft.

His brother Nick played for Wenatchee in the 2019-20 season and is entering his sophomore season at the University of New Hampshire.

Peters leaves the Kings to join Campbell River

Powell River Kings 2004-born goaltender Nick Peters has signed to play junior B hockey in 2021-22 as he is set to join the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

Peters, who’s from Powell River, had a 2-4-2 record along with a  4.25 goals-against-average, and an .857 save percentage in eight games with the Kings during the 2020-21 BC Hockey League pod season.

Marks signs with Corsaires de Nantes for 2021-22

Defenseman Cameron Marks (six goals, 29 assists in 99 games with Penticton and Coquitlam from 2012-14) has joined Corsaires de Nantes of FFHG, Division 1 in France for the 2021-22 season.

The 26-year-old from North Vancouver, BC had four goals and 19 points in 34 games for Neuilly-sur-Marne in FFHG, Division 1 over the last two seasons.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
