BCHL Showcase heads to Chilliwack this October

The BC Hockey League announced on Friday the details of the 2021 Showcase event. This year, the event takes place over five days from Oct. 20 – 24 with each team playing a pair of games at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

This year is the ninth straight time that Chilliwack has hosted at least part of the event. The 2020 BCHL Showcase was set for Salmon Arm last season but was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Naylor commits to Concordia University

Nanaimo Clippers goaltender Jordan Naylor has committed to Concordia University of U SPORTS for this September.

The 2000-born netminder had a 7-8-1 record with a 3.64 goals-against-average, a .913 save percentage and one shutout in 16 games during the 2020-21 pod season.

Naylor, who’s from Aldergrove, BC, had the third-best single-season save percentage in BCHL history in 2019-20 at .935. His six shutouts that season is tied for second-most ever in a single campaign.

Grizzlies acquire Barnett from South Shore of the MHL

The Victoria Grizzlies have acquired 2003-born defenseman Eli Barnett from the South Shore Lumberjacks of the Maritime Hockey League for future considerations.

Barnett, who’s committed to the University of Vermont for September 2022, had six assists in 22 games for the Lumberjacks this past season.
