The Salmon Arm Silverbacks announced the addition of 2005-born defenseman Owen Beckner for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.
Beckner, who’s from Victoria, BC, had six goals and one assist in four games with St. George’s School U17 Prep in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2020-21.
He put up 37 points in 30 games with St. George’s U15 Prep in 2019-20. The Regina Pats also selected Beckner in the seventh round of the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

The Nanaimo Clippers have acquired 2003-born defenseman Ethan Mistry from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
Mistry hails from Toronto, ON, and didn’t get into any games with the Jr. Canadiens in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is committed to Brown University for 2022-23.
Heinen transforms from a Duck into a Penguin
The Penguins have signed forward Danton Heinen to a one-year contract.
The one-way contract runs through the 2021.22 season and carries a value of $1.1 million.

Forward Danton Heinen (29 goals, 35 assists in 59 games with Merritt and Surrey from 2012-14) signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $1.1 million with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
The 26-year-old from Langley, BC put up seven goals and 14 points in 43 games with Anaheim this past season. He has 121 points in 272 career NHL games over the last five seasons with the Ducks and Boston.
Duhaime returns to Minnesota

Forward Brandon Duhaime (six goals, 19 assists in 56 games with West Kelowna and Merritt from 2014-15) signed a two-year contract extension with the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. It’s a two-way contract in 2021-22 and a one-way deal in 2022-23.
The 24-year-old product of Parkland, FL had six goals and nine points in 24 games with Iowa of the American Hockey League this past season.

Defenseman Mike Lee (two goals, 34 assists in 56 games with Penticton in 2014-15) signed a contract for 2021-22 with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL.
As a rookie in 2020-21, the 25-year-old Hamden, CT product posted five goals and 23 points in 35 games for the Fuel.

Defenseman Tim Daly (20 goals, 48 assists in 119 games with Langley from 2009-11) has signed to play with Rungsted Seier Capital of Denmark’s Metal Ligaen in 2021-22.
Daly, 29, notched 14 goals and 34 points in 41 games with Rungsted in 2020-21. The Maple Ridge, BC product also played for Rungsted in 2018-19 and put up 46 points in 40 games.

Goaltender Cody Porter (9-7-0, 3.95 goals-against-average, .874 save percentage in 20 games with West Kelowna combined between 2013-14 and 2017-18) has signed with IPK of Finland’s Mestis for the 2021-22 season.
Porter, who hails from North Vancouver, BC, had an 0-7-1 record with a 4.62 goals-against-average and an .881 save percentage in eight games with Zaglebie Sosnowiec of the Polska Hokej Liga in 2020-21.
