Caps leading scorer Wilson off to school

Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Luc Wilson has committed to Minnesota State University, Mankato for September 2020. Wilson leads the Caps in scoring with 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 34 games this season. He is the eighth member of Cowichan’s roster to commit to college.

Vipers defenceman Fuller suspended for blow to the head

The Vernon Vipers won’t have defenceman Landon Fuller in their line-up for the near future. The 20-year-old is suspended indefinitely for receiving a major penalty and a game misconduct for a blow to the head in Saturday’s game against Wenatchee. .

He served the first game of the suspension on Sunday against Merritt.

Chiefs forward Nelson accumulates blow to the head penalties

Chilliwack forward Clark Nelson is out of the Chiefs line-up for three games. Under the junior A supplement, the suspension is automatic after Nelson received a third blow to the head minor plus misconduct for the third time this season.

Nelson sat out Saturday’s game in Prince George, Sunday’s game at home against Trail and will miss Friday’s game when the Chiefs host Langley.

Vipers forward Shostak out until after Christmas

Vernon has extended the injured reserve status of forward Ryan Shostak by 15 days. He is eligible to return on Dec. 22, but the Vipers play their last game before the holiday break on Dec. 18. Their first game after Christmas is at home Dec. 28 against Salmon Arm.

Shostak hasn’t played since Nov. 3 in Surrey. He has five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in 18 games with the Vipers this season.

Capitals grab de Kok as an affiliate player

Cowichan Valley added 19-year-old Aaron de Kok as an affiliate player from the Campbell River Storm of the VIJHL. De Kok is 6-3-0 with a 2.59 GAA and a .918 SV% in 10 junior B games with the Storm this season.

Bulldogs bring Pederson back up from junior B

Alberni Valley brought up forward Josh Pederson for the second time this season to play at home against Powell River over the weekend. The 19-year-old has 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists) in 27 games with the Campbell River Storm of the VIJHL this season.

Express tap local defenceman Hanzel as an AP

The Coquitlam Express signed Jeremy Hanzel as an affiliate player for the 2019-20 season. The 16-year-old from Coquitlam plays with the Vancouver NE Chiefs of the BCMML this season. He has 23 points (3 goals, 20 assists) in 21 games for the Chiefs thus far.

Canada West falls to 0-2 at WJAC

Canada West is the only team without a victory thus far at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek. BCHL players were held off the scoresheet as Canada East beat Canada West 5-1 on Sunday. West falls to 0-2 while East is now 1-0-1.

Canada West’s next game is Wednesday against Russia at 6 pm PST.

Second Star: Coquitlam forward Connor Gregga tallied two goals and added an assist.

Third Star: Cowichan Valley defenceman Dimitri Mikrogiannakis chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Honourable Mentions: Merritt’s Hunor Torzsok scored three goals and added an assist. Surrey forward Hudson Schandor notched a goal and two assists.
