Abgrall’s WHL rights traded from Edmonton to Everett

Powell River Kings forward Michael Abgrall had his Western Hockey League rights traded on Tuesday from the Edmonton Oil Kings to the Everett Silvertips.

The 2003-born centre from Richmond, BC had 13 goals and 24 assists in 57 games with the Kings in 2019-20. He is committed to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha in September 2021.

His 37 points last season was the second-most by a 16-year-old in the BCHL, behind Chilliwack’s Peter Reynolds, who jumped to the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League earlier this spring.

The Oil Kings selected Abgrall in the 4th round, 67th overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Ring named captain at Marian University

Defenseman Troy Ring (16 goals, 48 assists in 138 games with Langley and Trail from 2015-18) has been named captain for Marian University during the 2020-21 season.

Rink, a 23-year-old from Vancouver, had three goals and 17 assists in 28 NCAA Div. III games in 2019-20, his second with Sabres.

Forward Luke Nogard (32 goals, 32 assists in 110 games with Powell River from 2012-14) has signed a contract extension for the 2020-21 season with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL.
