Eagles add Wilson for 2021-22

The Surrey Eagles announced the signing of 2004-born forward Trent Wilson for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.

Wilson, who’s from Delta, BC, posted a goal and an assist in four games with Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2020-21.

He had 18 goals and 41 points in 37 games with the Delta Hockey Academy Elite 15s during the 2019-20 CSSHL season.

Little commits to the Okanagan Lakers collegiate team

Coquitlam Express goaltender Jaden Little has committed to the Okanagan Lakers of the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League for 2021-22.

The 2000-born netminder from Nanaimo, BC had a 1-4-1 record along with a 4.84 goals-against-average and an .854 save percentage in seven games with the Express in 2020-21.

The Lakers are an independent collegiate transfer team with players who are students at Okanagan College and the University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Kanter steps down as Silverbacks’ communications coordinator and broadcaster

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks announced on Tuesday that Nathan Kanter has resigned as play-by-play broadcaster and communications coordinator. The Silverbacks reported that Kanter’s resignation was to “pursue another career opportunity.”

He signed a two-year contract extension with Salmon Arm in May. Kanter was with the Silverbacks for the last two seasons after joining them from Battlefords of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Felton transfers to Merrimack

Defenseman Christian Felton (five goals, 10 assists in 50 games with Vernon in 2019-20) has transferred from Bentley University to Merrimack College.

Felton, 21, was scoreless in 13 games as a rookie with Bentley during the 2020-21 NCAA season. The product of Medina, OH originally committed to the Falcons back in Nov. 2018 while playing prep school hockey at Kimball Union Academy.

Ghiradosi transfers to Holy Cross

Forward Tyler Ghiradosi (51 goals, 60 assists in 157 games with Trail from 2016-20) will attend College of the Holy Cross this September.

The 21-year-old from Montrose, BC was at Quinnipiac University in 2020-21 but didn’t play any games because the season was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Regush moves to Miami University (Ohio)

After three years at Cornell University, forward Michael Regush (20 goals, 33 assists in 106 games with Langley and Merritt from 2015-17) has transferred to Miami University (Ohio) for the upcoming NCAA season.

Regush, a 22-year-old centre from Delta, BC, had 23 goals and 33 points in 65 games for Cornell over the last three seasons.

Cressey signs with Reading for 2021-22

Forward Jackson Cressey (54 goals, 70 assists in 170 games with Coquitlam from 2012-16) signed with the Reading Royals of the ECHL for the 2021-22 season.

The 25-year-old West Vancouverite had six goals and 13 points in 14 games with Tyringe SoSS of HockeyEttan, which is the third tier of pro hockey in Sweden, in 2020-21.

Robillard moves to Oswego this September

Defenseman Troy Robillard (seven goals, 39 assists in 163 games with Coquitlam from 2015-19) has transferred from the University of Alaska-Anchorage to Oswego State University this September.

Robillard, 22, didn’t play with the Seawolves in 2020-21 because of the pandemic. The Coquitlam, BC product had two assists in 24 games as a freshman with UAA in 2019-20.

Doyle named Canucks president of business operations

The Vancouver Canucks announced the appointment of Michael Doyle (5.11 goals-against-average and an .887 save percentage in 19 games with Merritt in 1984-85) as their president of business operations on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old from North Vancouver, BC has worked in a senior leadership role for Canucks Sports and Entertainment for the past decade and has served as the Canucks’ alternate governor since 2018.

Coughlin signs a deal with Worcester

Forward Liam Coughlin (38 goals, 67 assists in 107 games with Vernon from 2013-15) has signed with the Worcester Railers of the ECHL.

Coughlin, a 26-year-old from South Boston, MA, didn’t play any games of note in 2020-21 due to the pandemic. He had six goals and 17 points in 39 games with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel in 2019-20.

Krueger inks with Lausanne for 2021-22

Defenseman Justin Krueger (seven goals, 15 assists in 55 games with Penticton in 2005-06) inked an extension with Lausanne HC of Switzerland’s National League for 2021-22.

The 34-year-old from DĂĽsseldorf, GER was scoreless in 47 games with Lausanne this past season, his eight straight in the NL.

Murray steps down from Western Michigan University

Andy Murray, who was part-owner of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks from 2002-07, has stepped down as head coach of Western Michigan University.

Murray, 70, was behind the bench of the Broncos for the last ten years and was named NCAA coach of the year in 2017.
