BCHL Today: Gendron re-ups with AHL Colorado, Street signs in Germany for 2021-22, and more!

Gendron inks an extension with AHL Colorado

Defenseman Miles Gendron (five goals, 12 assists in 54 games with Penticton in 2014-15) has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League.

Gendron, a 25-year-old from Oakville, ON, had two goals and an assist in 15 games on load to the Eagles this past season. He also added 15 points in 46 games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

Street goes from Binghamton to Germany

Forward Ben Street (42 goals, 60 assists in 110 games with Salmon Arm from 2003-05) has signed with EHC München of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the 2021-22 season.

Street, 34, had five goals and nine assists in 14 games with the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League this season. The Coquitlamite wore the captain’s “C” for the baby Devils for the last two seasons.

Lynn transfers from Ontario Tech to Marian

Forward Brady Lynn (47 goals, 46 assists in 178 games with Coquitlam, Nanaimo, and Cowichan Valley from 2016-20) has transferred from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology to Marian University to play NCAA Division III hockey.

The 22-year-old from Victoria, BC didn’t get into any games with Ontario Tech because U SPORTS cancelled the winter season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
