BCHL Today: A pair of BCHL alumni named captains at UND, Ginnetti signs extension in Italy, and more

 

Two BCHL alums named to leadership group at North Dakota

The University of North Dakota announced it’s leadership group for the 2020-21 season, and a pair of BCHL alumni were included in it.

Jordan Kawaguchi (120 goals, 122 assists in 215 games with Chilliwack and West Kelowna from 2012-2017) has been named the Fighting Hawks captain for the upcoming season. The 23-year-old forward from Abbotsford was a Hobey Baker Award finalist last season, in which he put up 45 points in 33 games.

Jasper Weatherby (49 goals, 57 assists in 104 games with Wenatchee from 2016-18) was named an assistant captain at UND as well. The 22-year-old forward from Ashland, Oregon has 13 goals and 10 assists in 71 games over two seasons with North Dakota.

Cameron Ginnetti (12 goals, 58 assists in 110 games with Langley from 2014-17) has signed an extension with Asiago of the Alps Hockey League.

The 22-year-old defenseman from Vancouver scored five goals and added 11 assists in 37 games with Asiago last season.

Prince George extends Communications Director Waldie

The Prince George Spruce Kings have extended their Communications Director and play-by-play voice, Cole Waldie, through the 2021-22 season.

Waldie, from Prince George, has been with the Spruce Kings since September of 2019 and has a long list of responsibilities with the team. Included on this list are media relations, graphic design, social media, group ticket sales and mini-plans, and administrator for the Spruce Kings Youth Development Program.
