Cents bring Sullivan into the fold

The Merritt Centennials announced the signing of 2003-born goaltender Conor Sullivan for the 2022-23 BC Hockey League season.

Sullivan, who hails from Westborough, MA, played 20 games of high school hockey at The Rivers School in Weston, MA. He finished with a 2.08 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage, and three shutouts.

Rivermen sign Gossoo for 2022-23

The Langley Rivermen unveiled 2005-born forward Nathan Gossoo as their latest recruit for the 2022-23 season on Monday.

The West Kelowna, BC product played three games with Langley as an affiliate last season. He spent 2021-22 full-time with Pacific Coast Academy U18 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

In 36 games at Pacific Coast Academy, he notched 21 goals and 35 points. Gossoo added an eye-popping eight goals and one assist in three CSSHL playoff games.

Vees put their captaincy on Djurasevic

The Fred Page Cup champion Penticton Vees named 2002-born defender Frank Djurasevic as their captain for the 2022-23 season.

The Merrimack College commit from New Rochelle, NY is entering his third season in Penticton and has nine goals and 39 points in 73 career BCHL games.

Djurasevic, who was an alternate captain for Penticton this past season, takes over from forward Finlay Williams, who is off to the University of Notre Dame this fall.

Glen commits to Ohio University for this September

Vernon Vipers graduating forward Jack Glen has committed to Ohio University to play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association this fall.

The 2001-born native of Regina, SK spent the last three seasons in Vernon, tallying 10 goals and 23 points in 92 games. He is the 13th member of the Vipers 2021-22 roster to commit to playing college hockey.

Express bring Ali aboard as head strength and conditioning coach

The Coquitlam Express beefed up its coaching staff on Monday with the hiring of Ibby Ali as head strength and conditioning coach.

Ali is the founder of New Edge Alliance, which was also unveiled as Coquitlam’s official training centre for the club.

Giuttari inks a contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack

Defender Zach Giuttari (eight goals, nine assists in 54 games with Chilliwack in 2015-16) has signed a one-year pact with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League for the 2022-23 season.

Giuttari, a 26-year-old product of Warwick, RI, got into 56 games with the Wolf Pack in 2021-22 and finished with a goal and 13 assists. It was his second full season with Hartford.

Gould dealt in the ECHL from Allen to South Carolina

26-year-old forward Gavin Gould (65 goals, 89 assists in 169 games with Merritt and Nanaimo from 2013-16) was traded in the ECHL on Monday from the Allen Americans to the South Carolina Stingrays.

The North Vancouver, BC product had 10 goals and 29 points in 28 games as a first-year pro with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Americans this past season.

Pritchard moves from Reading to Cincinnati in the ECHL

Forward Jacob Pritchard (39 goals, 37 assists in 54 games with Powell River in 2014-15) was traded by the Reading Royals to the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL on Monday.

The 27-year-old from Macomb Township, MI had 16 goals and 52 points in 58 games with the Royals in 2021-22. He also played three games in the AHL split between Springfield and Rochester.

Worcester ships Newton to Reading in ECHL deal

Forward Max Newton (47 goals, 76 assists in 153 games with Trail and Cowichan Valley from 2014-17) was moved from Worcester to Reading in an ECHL trade on Monday.

Newton, who hails from Vancouver, BC, potted three goals and eight points in 13 games with the Railers in 2021-22. The 24-year-old turned pro with Worcester after his NCAA season at Merrimack College ended in March.

He also posted one assist in two games with Providence of the AHL after signing a pro tryout with the Bruins in April.

Dodero turns pro in Slovenia

West Chicago, IL native Chris Dodero (14 goals, 21 assists in 53 games with Nanaimo in 2015-16) has signed a contract for 2022-23 with HK Olimpija Ljubljana of the ICE Hockey League.

The 26-year-old forward wrapped up a five-year NCAA career at American International College in March, finishing with 26 goals and 71 points in 134 games.

Ward jumps to Germany for 2022-23

Kamloops, BC native Tyler Ward (31 goals, 26 assists in 86 games with Merritt from 2015-17) has signed a deal with Tölzer Löwen of Oberliga, which is the third tier of pro hockey in Germany.

Ward played three games with Maine of the ECHL and didn’t register any points. He was claimed by Kansas City on waivers in March but didn’t get into any games with the Mavericks.

The 22-year-old forward spent the last four seasons in the NCAA split between the University of New Hampshire and the University of Denver, compiling 29 goals and 68 points in 129 games.

Reid re-ups with Cardiff for 2022-23

Forward Brodie Reid (73 goals, 63 assists in 157 games with Surrey, Burnaby, and Penticton from 2006-09) has signed an Elite Ice Hockey League contract extension for 2022-23 with the Cardiff Devils.

The Delta, BC product had 31 goals and 59 points in 52 games with the Devils this past season. The 32-year-old added three points in four EIHL playoff games.

Eagles bring in Van Hatten as a camera operator

The Surrey Eagles continue to add to their staff for the 2022-23 season and on Monday, they announced that Ayden Van Hatten will serve as one of their camera operators.

Van Hatten is currently attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology as a student in the Television and Video Production program.
