In memoriam

Johan Nilsson, the founder of Elite Prospects, has passed away after a nine-year battle with colon cancer. The 45-year-old launched the visionary database in 1999 at just 18 years of age. His platform fundamentally transformed global hockey coverage and player tracking. It remains the essential engine for independent outlets like BCHLNetwork. We rely on his infrastructure daily to accurately track league commitments, roster moves, and alumni. I’ve contributed to his database for 15 years, and all of us at BCHLNetwork shared Johan’s profound passion for documenting the game. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
