BCHL Bulletin: Bulldogs sign Kiley-Ram, Crusaders part ways with Menard, and more

Roster moves

The Blackfalds Bulldogs signed 2008-born forward Blake Kiley-Ram for the 2026-27 season. The Scottsdale, Arizona native tallied 32 goals, 46 assists, and 78 points across 68 games in 2025-26. He spent last year playing U18 AAA prep hockey for South Kent School in Connecticut. Kiley-Ram was selected in the second round (34th overall) by the Regina Pats in the 2023 WHL US Prospect Draft.

Coaching News

The Sherwood Park Crusaders have parted ways with 38-year-old General Manager and Head Coach Brennan Menard. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native amassed a 111-55-9 regular-season record over three years in Sherwood Park. His tenure included leading the Cru for one season in the AJHL before their BCHL transition.

Front office news

The Spruce Grove Saints hired 24-year-old Tanner Sklaruk as their Sales and Corporate Partnership Associate for 2026-27. The Stony Plain, Alberta native recently concluded a four-year collegiate hockey career at Red Deer Polytechnic of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. He had eight goals, 25 assists, and 33 points over 24 games in 2025-26.

Alumni updates

The University of Manitoba added 2005-born forward Brandon Funk for the 2026-27 USports season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba product skated for the Spruce Grove Saints from 2024 to 2026. He amassed 18 goals, 18 assists, and 36 points in 54 games this past season. His BCHL regular-season career totals stand at 18 goals, 20 assists, and 38 points in 74 games.

Northern Michigan University secured 2006-born defender Darik Olson from the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. In 2025-26, the Duluth, Minnesota native recorded six goals, seven assists, and 13 points over 22 games for the Chilliwack Chiefs. He finished the season with eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 32 games with the Musketeers.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
