Spruce Kings send Fox to Drumheller of the AJHL
The Prince George Spruce Kings traded 2002-born Nathan Fox to the Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
Fox, who’s from Airdrie, AB, had three goals and three assists in 33 games with the Spruce Kings in 2021-22. He actually played two games with Drumheller as an affiliate player in 2019-20.
Overland commits to the University of Arizona
Defender Jerrett Overland (one goal, five assists in 50 games with Wenatchee in 2019-20) has committed to the University of Arizona to play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association this September.
The 21-year-old from Las Vegas, NV posted a goal and 10 assists in 19 games with Walpole of the Eastern Hockey League last season. He also notched 16 points in 11 games with San Diego State University of the ACHA Division II.
MacDonald returns to Greenville in 2022-23
Langley, BC product Ayden MacDonald (44 goals, 49 assists in 166 games with Surrey, Vernon, Victoria, and Cowichan Valley from 2013-17) has signed a contract extension with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.
MacDonald, 25, had 20 goals and 33 points in 44 games as a rookie with Greenville last season. He started the year at Brock University and posted eight points in seven U SPORTS games before signing with the Swamp Rabbits.
Hutchison inks a deal with the Utica Comets
Forward Nick Hutchison (23 goals, 29 assists in 63 games with Salmon Arm from 2014-16) has signed a contract for 2022-23 with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.
Hutchison, a 27-year-old from Hicksville, NY, played 32 AHL games in 2021-22 split between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Manitoba, and had seven points. He also got into 31 ECHL games with Wheeling and finished with 42 points.
Mackin moves from Sweden to Austria

Forward Corey Mackin (74 goals, 80 assists in 115 games with Coquitlam from 2013-15) has signed with HC Innsbruck of the ICE Hockey League for the 2022-23 season.
The 27-year-old from Philadelphia, PA had 13 goals and 31 points in 51 games as an alternate captain with HC Vita Hästen of Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan this past season, his first in Europe.
Howie commits to the University of Ottawa
2001-born defender Johnny Howie (one goal, six assists in 41 games with Cowichan Valley in 2019-20) has committed to the University of Ottawa to play U SPORTS hockey this September.
Howie, who’s from Carp, ON, was the captain for the Kemptville 73’s of the Central Canada Hockey League in 2021-22. He finished the season with 11 goals and 48 points in 55 games.
