The season started off shaky for the Langley Rivermen but after the last few games it seems Head Coach Bobby Henderson has the ship heading in the right direction. After sweeping the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack, the Rivermen were able to rattle off two more wins for a four-game winning streak. Veteran leader Brendan Budy exploded with 12 points over the last four games including a hat trick against the West Kelowna Warriors. Rivermen Capitalize On Capitals
The Rivermen opened up the 2019 BCHL Showcase against the Island Division leading Cowichan Valley Capitals in Chilliwack. The Rivermen came into the Showcase looking to turn their slow start to the season around and it started with them outworking the Capitals and getting a 4-2 victory. Will Dow-Kenny got the scoring started early into the first period on a nice play set up by Kalen Szeto and Kaeden Patrick. The Rivermen power play hit the score sheet twice as Devin Leduc and Jake Livingstone scored on the man advantage. Riley Wallack also scored for the Rivermen and goalie Braedon Fleming was lights out as he made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Dethroning The Kings
Looking for a sweep at the BCHL Showcase, the Rivermen played game two against the Powell River Kings. The Rivermen dominated and dictated the play right from puck drop as they went 3-for-4 on the power play and defeated the Kings 7-1. Jake Livingstone opened the scoring 50 seconds into the first period and the Rivermen never let up. Budy had a huge game as he picked up 5 points including the final goal of the game. Other goal scorers were Tanner Versluis, Leduc, Jonathan Stein, Ryan Helliwell and Joseph Musa. Fleming was solid for a second straight game as he stopped 19 of 20 shots.

Sunday Funday
The Chilliwack Chiefs made the short trip to Langley for a Sunday afternoon game. The Chiefs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period but the Rivermen battled hard and came away with a 6-5 shootout victory. Budy added to his point streak as he picked up a hat-trick and an assist. He also scored the shootout winner. Leduc added to his five game goal-scoring streak as he scored in the third period and rookie Tanner Komzak scored his first career BCHL goal. Fleming made 30 saves for his third straight win.

Weekday Warriors
The Rivermen made a trip to the Okanagan for a Tuesday night game against the West Kelowna Warriors. In an evenly matched back and forth game the Rivermen got the better part of the Warriors with a 4-3 shootout win. Szeto opened the scoring and also picked up the shootout winner. Cooper Swift and Sean Bunting both picked up their first career BCHL goals as the Rivermen win their fourth straight game. Once again, Fleming was on fire as he stopped 37 of 40 shots as he proved once again why he is a top goalie in the BCHL.
