Capitals acquire Gurski from Winnipeg Freeze of the MJHL

 

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have acquired 2002-born goaltender Will Gurski from the Winnipeg Freeze of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

Gurski, who’s from Duncan, BC, had an 0-3-0 record with a 4.16 goals-against-average and a .903 save percentage in four games with the Freeze this past season.

He made his Western Hockey League debut in 2019-20, playing a pair of games for the Winnipeg Ice and finishing with a 1-1 record, a 4.50 goals-against-average, and an .839 save percentage.

As a rookie with the then-Winnipeg Blues that same season, Gurski posted a 5-9-1 record, a 4.74 goals-against-average, and an .874 save percentage in 18 MJHL games.

The 18-year-old is an alumnus of Shawnigan Lake School of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
