The Alberni Valley Bulldogs won in Victoria and then defeated the Salmon Arm Silverbacks before losing to the Powell River Kings this past weekend. The games against the Silverbacks and Kings were both on home ice for the Bulldogs.
Win in Victoria
The Bulldogs tallied first 4:10 into the first period on a goal from Olivier Fizet and then near the end of the first, got a goal from Jackson Doucet. The Grizzlies potted their first goal from Vince Nardone 11:27 into the second period on the power play. They tied it at two a minute and five seconds later on a power play goal from Andrew Amousse. The Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead on a goal by Jacob Bosse and then padded the lead to 4-2 with another by Bosse, this time on the power play. Amousse scored for Victoria to pull within one, but Alberni Valley held on for the 4-3 victory.
Win over Salmon Arm
The Bulldogs drew first blood 13 seconds in on a goal from Jimmy Rayhill. Goals from Caige Sterzer and Jacob Bosse 15 seconds apart extended the Bulldogs lead to 3-0, but a goal from Lucas Breault got the Silverbacks on the scoreboard before the first period was over.
A second goal from Breault 29 seconds into the second period cut the Bulldogs lead to one. Bosse scored another to give the Bulldogs back a two goal cushion. However, a power play goal from Akito Hirose for the Silverbacks cut Salmon Arm’s deficit back to one. An empty net goal from Stephen Castagna with 10 seconds to go in regulation clinched the win for the Bulldogs.
