The Alberni Valley Bulldogs split a pair of games this past weekend. In the first game, the Bulldogs lost to the Nanaimo Clippers in Nanaimo. In the second game the next day, they defeated the Powell River Kings to continue their Weyerhaeuser Arena point streak.
Loss in Nanaimo
In Nanaimo, Tim Washe opened the scoring for the Clippers 1:45 into the first period. The Bulldogs drew even with a second period goal from Jackson Doucet. A pair of Clippers’ third period goals from Travis Walton and Tim Washe cemented the 3-1 win for the Clippers. The game was largely a defensive struggle from both teams.
Win Over Powell River
In the win over the Powell River Kings, the Bulldogs opened the scoring 8:24 into the first period on a goal from Dawson Tritt. In the second period, the Bulldogs potted a goal from Austin Spiridakis and a power play goal from Ryan Doolin. Alberni Valley closed it off with a third period goal from Tommy Bannister to pad the win. After an unpenalized hit to the head of Austin Spiridakis by the Kings’ Davis Pennington, Tim Gould fought Pennington 5:49 into the third period. The win keeps the Bulldogs with a point in every game at Weyerhaeuser Arena this season.
