Smokies sign University of New Hampshire commit Sacco for 2020-21

The Trail Smoke Eaters announced on Thursday the commitment of forward David Sacco for next season. The 18-year-old had 17 goals and 23 assists in 24 games for the Lawrence Academy prep school.
He also played 26 games for the Cape Cod Whalers U18, scoring ten goals and eight assists. Sacco is committed to attend the University of New Hampshire in September 2021.

The Cranbrook Bucks added forward Noah Quinn from the Kootenay Ice of the BC Major Midget League. The 16-year-old led the team in scoring with 21 goals and 21 assists in 40 games.
Quinn is the fourth forward signed by the Bucks and the first 2003-born player.

The Merritt Centennials signed 18-year-old Carson Preston for the 2020-21 season. The forward had 15 goals and ten assists in 21 games for the Aldergrove Kodiaks of the PJHL.
He also had two goals and two assists in 13 games with the KIJHL’s Revelstoke Grizzlies to start the season.
Grizzlies add four for 2020-21
The Victoria Grizzlies had signed four new players for the 2020-21 season. Joining the Grizz are forwards Colby Joseph, Desmond Arthurs, Luc Pelletier, and defenceman Andrew Braun.
Joseph, 17, is from Elkhorn, Manitoba and had 36 goals and 35 assists in 48 games for the Yellowhead Midget AAA Chiefs.
Pelletier, who’s 17, scored 18 goals and 17 assists in 48 games for the Peninsula Panthers of the VIJHL.
Arthurs, a 17-year-old from Saanich, BC, had ten goals and 22 assists in 44 games for the Victoria Cougars. He also played two games for the Grizzlies as an affiliate player.
Braun spent the 2019-20 season with the Shawnigan Lake Midget Prep team. The 18-year-old had two goals and 12 assists in 26 games. He added a goal in three games as an AP for the Grizzlies.

University of North Dakota forward Jordan Kawaguchi (120 goals, 122 assists in 213 games for Chilliwack from 2013-17) is one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in US college hockey.

Defenceman Jonny Tychonick (12 goals, 58 assists in 96 games with Penticton from 2016-18) is looking to switch schools after entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Tychonick, who was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the second round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, has played 42 games for the University of North Dakota over the last two seasons, posting four goals and 11 assists.

First Star: Nanaimo forward Blair Lefebvre scored a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over Salmon Arm in game one of the Fred Page Cup final series.
Second Star: Forward Tyson Mulock had a goal and an assist for the Clippers.
Third Star: Salmon Arm forward Travis Zajac scored a goal and an assist in the loss to Nanaimo.
Honourable Mentions: Clippers forward Michael Olson posted two assists. Nanaimo forward Raymond Sawada notched a goal and two assists. Silverbacks goaltender Patrick LePage kicked out 36 shots.
