Smoke Eaters sign Boston University-bound Liam Connors

The Trail Smoke Eaters announced the commitment of 19-year-old forward Liam Connors for the 2020-21 season.

Connors, who’s from Southborough, Massachusettes, was the captain for St. Sebastian’s School this past season and posted 16 goals and 25 assists in 28 games. He is committed to attend Boston University starting in the fall of 2021.

Chiefs add Northeastern commit Sasha Teleguine

The Chilliwack Chiefs added a talented American for 2020-21 in Thayer Academy forward Sasha Teleguine.

The 17-year-old from North Attleboro, Massachusettes had 21 goals and 30 assists in 26 games this season and is committed to Northeastern University for September 2021.

Bucks cancel inaugural spring camp

A key piece of building the 2020-21 Cranbrook Bucks is cancelled after the BCHL’s newest team scrapped its spring camp due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Three Stars of the Night Rewind ⏪ (March 20, 2009)

First Star: Salmon Arm forward Zac Rasmussen had two goals in a 3-2 overtime win against Vernon.

Second Star: Powell River forward Clay Harvey had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 overtime victory versus Victoria.

Third Star: Vipers forward Chris Crowell had two goals in the loss to the Silverbacks.

Honourable Mentions: Kings forward Kyle Bodie and Vernon forward Mike Collins each notched a pair of assists. Powell River forward Ben Schmidt posted a goal and an assist. Vipers goaltender Andrew Hammond made 39 saves. Grizzlies forward Justin Courtnall scored a goal to force OT. Kings netminder Carsen Chubak kicked out 39 shots.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
