The Salmon Arm Silverbacks announced a significant trade on Thursday, acquiring 2000-born forward Mitchell Morrison from the Burlington Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
Morrison, who’s from Guelph, Ontario, is a veteran of 141 games with the Cougars, where he put up 43 goals and 82 assists over the last three seasons. He’s also scored nine points in 13 OJHL playoff games.

The Trail Smoke Eaters made the addition of two new players official on Wednesday, bringing in 2001-born forward Nicolas Roussel and 2004-born forward Jackson Krill.
BCHLNetwork reported the signing of Roussel back in late August after a report in this Maple Ridge News but the signing of Krill, who’s from Port Moody, BC, is new.
The 16-year-old spent 2019-20 with the Burnaby Winter Club Elite 15s of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and notched 45 points in 34 games, which was second in team scoring. He also played seven games with the BWC Prep team as an affiliate but didn’t score any points.
Bishop commits to Western Michigan University
Victoria Grizzlies forward Trevor Bishop has committed to Western Michigan University of the NCAA for this fall. The 1999-born forward played 64 combined games with the Grizzlies between 2017-18 and this past season.
He also played two games with the North American Hockey League’s Janesville Jets in 2019-20. Bishop split 2018-19 between Connecticut and South Shore of the National Collegiate Development Conference.

The Nanaimo Clippers are on the hunt for a new general manager and director of business operations following the resignation of Tali Campbell on Thursday.
Campbell joined the Clippers in 2018 as director of business operations and was promoted to GM in December 2019.

Hockey Canada announced the cancellation of its 2020 fall events on Thursday due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes the World Junior A Challenge. The tournament was set to be held in Cornwall, Ontario in December. It is expected to return to the city in 2021.
Russia is the defending champion at the tournament, after beating Canada East 3-2 in overtime in Dawson Creek, BC last year.

1999-born forward Corey Clifton (11 goals, 23 assists in 69 games with Surrey and Trail from 2018-20) has committed to Quinnipiac University for this season.
Clifton, who’s from Matawan, New Jersey, split this past season with the NAHL’s Austin Bruins, Corpus Christi IceRays, and the Smoke Eaters. He had nine points in 19 games with Trail before joining the IceRays in January.
