BCHL Today: Express brings in goaltender Manji, Scouras leaves Cowichan Valley for junior B, and more!

Express adds Manji to its crease

The Coquitlam Express has signed 2003-born goaltender Adam Manji for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League. Manji, who’s from Burnaby, BC, spent last fall’s BCHL exhibition season in the Victoria Grizzlies’ camp.

He signed with the Port Moody Panthers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League last September but didn’t play any games with them because he was still with the Grizzlies when COVID-19 restrictions halted the PJHL regular season and BCHL exhibition season.

Manji played for the Hollyburn Country Club Under-18 Tier 2 A1 Huskies in 2019-20.

Scouras signs with junior B Delta Ice Hawks

In a Delta Optimist article previewing the upcoming season for the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s Delta Ice Hawks, it’s unveiled that Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Alexander Scouras has signed with the junior B club.

The 2002-born forward from Delta, BC had a pair of goals in 15 games for the Capitals during the 2020-21 pod season. He also got into two games as an affiliate with West Kelowna in 2019-20.

Skirving returns to Newfoundland

Forward Todd Skirving (eight goals, nine assists in 49 games with Vernon and Prince George in 2010-11) has signed with the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL for the 2021-22 season. He spent 2020-21 as an assistant coach of the Cranbrook Bucks.

Skirving, 29, last played during the 2019-20 season, putting up 12 points in 37 games with the Growlers before they went on hiatus for this past season due to COVID-19.

Gropp changes teams in HockeyAllsvenskan

Forward Ryan Gropp (16 goals, 24 assists in 62 games with Penticton from 2011-13) inked a deal for 2021-22 with IF Björklöven of HockeyAllsvenskan, which is the second tier of pro hockey in Sweden.

This past season, the 24-year-old from Kamloops, BC had seven goals and nine points in 17 games with Västerviks IK – a rival team in HockeyAllsvenskan.
