Bucks add Thrun to their forward group

The Cranbrook Bucks announced the addition of 2001-born forward Theo Thrun for the 2021-22 season following the Grand Rapids, MI’s release from the US Hockey League’s Lincoln Stars.

Thrun, who’s committed to Western Michigan University for September 2022, had seven goals and 27 points in 47 games with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League in 2020-21.

Vees name McDonald an assistant captain

The Penticton Vees have added an ‘A’ to the jersey of 2001-born forward Casey McDonald as an assistant captain for the team for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.

McDonald, a product of Kindersley, SK, spent the last two seasons with the Fargo Force of the USHL, putting up nine goals and 26 points in 83 games.

Centennials bring in Farren for 2021-22

The Merritt Centennials have signed 2003-born forward Connor Farren before this weekend’s start of the 2021-22 BCHL season.

Farren, who’s from Vancouver, BC, played one game this season with the Delta Ice Hawks of the Pacific Junior Hockey League but didn’t register any points. He had one assist in four games with Delta last season.

Spruce Kings name Schives alternate captain

The Prince George Spruce Kings have named 2001-born defenseman Dylan Schives as an alternate captain for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.

Schives, from Tilbury, ON, spent the last three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League with Baie-Comeau and Quebec. He posted five goals and 18 points in 128 games.

Hutchison heads to camp with the Utica Comets

Hicksville, NY product and forward Nick Hutchison (23 goals, 29 assists in 63 games with Salmon Arm from 2014-16) is attending training camp with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League on a tryout.

Hutchison, 26, had six goals and 19 points in 47 games with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL in 2020-21. He signed a one-year ECHL contract with the Adirondack Thunder in August.

Halloran tries out with the Manitoba Moose

24-year-old forward Nicholas Halloran (21 goals, 24 assists in 53 games with Trail in 2015-16) has signed a tryout agreement with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and will attend their training camp.

The Draper, UT product had a goal and eight points in 15 games with the Ontario Reign of the AHL in 2020-21, his first season as a professional after four years of NCAA hockey at Colorado College.

Lohan joins training camp of the Syracuse Crunch

Defenseman Kevin Lohan (five goals, 18 assists in 54 games with Merritt in 2012-13) is attending training camp with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch starting Tuesday.

Lohan, a 28-year-old from Cold Spring Harbor, NY, had two goals and 12 points in 56 games with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. He signed a one-year extension with the Solar Bears in July.

Pritchard traded from Wheeling to Reading in the ECHL

Forward Jacob Pritchard (39 goals, 37 assists in 54 games with Powell River in 2014-15) was traded in the ECHL on Monday from the Wheeling Nailers to the Reading Royals.

The 26-year-old from Macomb Township, Michigan had two goals and eight points in 21 games with the Nailers last season.

Zieky turns pro with the Idaho Steelheads

Forward Chase Zieky (28 goals, 26 assists with Langley and Salmon Arm in 2015-16) signed his first pro contract on Monday, inking a one-year pact with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.

The native of Avon, CT didn’t play in 2020-21 due to COVID-19 restrictions but wrapped up his NCAA career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2019-20.

Wolves bring Craighead and Schneider to camp

Forward Darien Craighead (52 goals, 86 assists in 143 games with Langley, Cowichan Valley, and Chilliwack from 2013-16) and defenseman Jordan Schneider (eight goals, 39 assists in 109 games with Langley from 2014-16) have both been invited as non-rostered professional players to training camp with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

The 24-year-old Craighead, who hails from Surrey, BC, had 10 points in 25 games with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays in 2020-21. He signed an ECHL contract for this season with the Norfolk Admirals in July.

Schneider, a 26-year-old product of Toronto, ON, had four points in 17 games split between Orlando and Indy of the ECHL during the 2020-21 season.

Coatta joins the Roadrunners at training camp

Forward Max Coatta (15 goals, 17 assists in 50 games with Penticton in 2013-14) is attending training camp this week with the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.

Coatta, a 26-year-old from Minnetonka, MN who signed with Rapid City in the ECHL last month, had 14 points in 13 games with Tyringe SoSS of HockeyEttan in 2020-21. HockeyEttan is the third tier of pro hockey in Sweden.
