Bulldogs Announce Leadership Group

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs unveiled their captains for the 2020-21 season on Thursday. Wearing the ‘C’ for the Bulldogs is 2000-born defenseman Mattias Dal Monte. The Nanaimo product is entering his fourth season of junior A hockey.

Alberni Valley’s alternate captains are 2000-born forwards Caige Sterzer and Dawson Tritt along with 2001-born forward Stephen Castagna. The three have a combined 391 games played in the BC Hockey League.

Chiefs take over Jr. Chiefs spring program

The Chilliwack Chiefs announced on Saturday that they will officially oversee the Jr. Chiefs spring program starting in 2021.

The program will be run by the Chiefs coaching staff, including general manager and head coach Brian Maloney. Details on the program are available here.

Bodie moves from Sweden to Germany

Defenseman Mathew Bodie (nine goals, 75 assists in 104 games with Powell River from 2008-10) has signed a contract with ERC Ingolstadt of the German Hockey League for 2020-21.

Bodie, 30, had 13 points in 44 games split between Växjö Lakers HC and IK Oskarshamn in the Swedish Hockey League in 2019-20.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
