The Salmon Arm Silverbacks changed up the look in their crease on Wednesday with the acquisition of 2001-born goaltender Owen Say from the Powassan VooDoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League in exchange for 2000-born netminder Riley Kohonick and future considerations.
Say was named goaltender of the month four times in the NOJHL last season. The London, Ontario product had a 31-2 record with a 1.90 goals-against-average, a .941 save percentage, and three shutouts in 2019-20.
He was a finalist for Canadian Junior Hockey League goaltender of the year this past season and won a silver medal with Canada West at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge.
According to a news release put out by the Silverbacks, the move was made to get their roster compliant as it relates to 20-year-old players.
Kohonick, who was acquired by the Silverbacks in June, had a 3-7 record with a 3.88 GAA and a .881 save percentage in 10 games with Salmon Arm during the extended training camp.
He was subsequently flipped by the VooDoos to the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in a separate transaction on Thursday.

Surrey Eagles forward Christian Fitzgerald took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce his commitment to Minnesota State University (Mankato).
Through seven games during the extended training camp this season, he leads Surrey in scoring with three goals and five assists. The 2002-born Coquitlam product had three goals and three assists in 44 games for the Eagles in 2019-20.

The Chilliwack Chiefs announced the commitment of 2001-born forward Connor Milburn to Lake Superior State University.
Miburn, who’s from Kamloops, BC, is entering his second season in the BCHL after putting up eight points in 25 games with the Chiefs in 2019-20.
Through seven games in the extended training camp this fall, Milburn has one goal and one assist.

The Prince George Spruce Kings unveiled their leadership team on Thursday with Mason Waite donning the ‘C’ for the 2020-21 season.
The 2000-born defenseman has two goals and one assist in three games during the extended training camp this season.
2001-born forwards Corey Cunningham and Kolton Cousins will serve as alternate captains.
Cunningham has five points in four games while Cousins has no points in three games during this fall’s exhibition season.

Chilliwack Chiefs rookie forward Ray Fust has committed to attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha and play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Mavericks starting in September 2021.
The 2002-born winger from Switzerland has a goal and an assist in six games with the Chiefs during the extended training camp.
He had 70 points in 56 games with Northwood School in US High School Prep during the 2019-20 season.

Forward Blake Christensen (16 goals, 20 assists in 52 games with Wenatchee in 2015-16) has been loaned by the American Hockey League’s Bakersfield Condors to Manglerud of Eliteserien, which is the highest level of pro hockey in Norway.
The 25-year-old signed with Bakersfield back in March after finishing his four-year NCAA career at American International College.
