The Coquitlam Express announced the acquisition of 2002-born goalie Connor Mackenzie from the Hawkesbury Hawks of the Central Canada Hockey League for future considerations.
MacKenzie, who’s from Toronto, did not play any games last season due to COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario.
In 2019-20, MacKenzie appeared in 35 games for the Whitby Fury of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He went 14-17-1 with a 3.45 goals-against-average, a .911 save percentage, and one shutout.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have signed head coach and assistant general manager Tyler Shattock to a two-year extension.
The native of Salmon Arm originally joined the Silverbacks as an assistant coach in October of 2018, before taking over as head coach during the 2019-20 season. Shattock has guided the Backs to a 20-16-5-2 record during his time as the team’s bench boss.
The upcoming season will be the second that he starts as head coach, after helping Salmon Arm to a 9-7-2-2 record in the Vernon pod last year.
Laframboise signs in Sweden
Forward Josh Laframboise (48 goals, 75 assists in 165 games with Penticton, Salmon Arm, and Trail from 2014-17) has signed with Amals SK of Division 2 in Sweden.
Laframboise, who will turn 25 in August, did not play during the pandemic riddled 2020-21 season.
After completing his BCHL career, Laframboise played three seasons with Lakehead University of USports. Over those three campaigns from 2017-2020, he amassed 27 goals and 21 assists in 59 games.

The Prince George Spruce Kings have added 2002-born forward Jimmy Doyle from the Bismarck Bobcats of the North American Hockey League.
The product of Plainfield, Illinois spent two seasons in the NAHL with the Bobcats and the Minnesota Magicians, recording seven goals and 16 assists in 64 games.
Doyle is committed to play NCAA Division I at St. Lawrence University next fall.

The Nanaimo Clippers have signed a local product in 2004-born defenseman Brett Merner for the upcoming season.
Merner spent the last two campaigns with the North Island Silvertips of the BC U18 AAA League. He tallied six goals and seven assists in 32 games with the Silvertips.
Merner also participated in the Clippers U18 spring program, which paved the way for him to sign with his hometown team.
Guenther re-signs with Les Ducs d’Angers

Defenseman Riley Guenther (eight goals, 30 assists in 96 games with Vernon from 2013-2015) has signed an extension with Les Ducs d’Angers of Ligue Magnus in France.
Guenther has spent the last two seasons with the French club, scoring five goals and seven assists in 60 games.
After finishing his junior career in Vernon, Guenther played four years with the University of British Columbia, where he managed seven goals and 11 assists in 107 games.
