Smoke Eaters recruit Warrener for 2021-22

The Trail Smoke Eaters announced the addition of 2003-born defenseman Ethan Warrener for the 2021-22 BC Hockey League season.

The Calgary, AB product didn’t register any points in four games with the U18 AAA Calgary Buffaloes in the Alberta Elite Hockey League this past season.

In 2019-20, he notched 15 points in 21 games with Calgary Buffalo Hockey Association U18 AA.  Warrener’s uncle Rhett had a 12-year, 714 game National Hockey League career with Florida, Buffalo, and Calgary.

Cents pick up Curran from West Kelowna

The Merritt Centennials have acquired 2003-born defenseman Sullivan Curran from the West Kelowna Warriors for future considerations.

Curran, who makes his home in Kelowna, BC, played 11 games for the Warriors during the 2020-21 pod season and didn’t register any points as a rookie.

Bodo signs with Gyergyói HK for the upcoming season

Forward Christopher Bodó (six goals, nine assists in 20 games with Prince George in 2010-11) has signed with Gyergyói HK of the Erste Liga, which is the top pro league in Hungary and Romania.

Bodó, a 28-year-old from St. Thomas, ON, had 23 goals and 57 points in 30 games with Hungary-based Újpesti Torna Egylet in the same league this past season.

Crowder jumps to Nantes for 2021-22

Forward Tim Crowder (50 goals, 67 assists in 165 games with Powell River, Victoria, and Surrey from 2002-05) has signed a contract with Nantes of the French Ice Hockey Federation Division 1 for the 2021-22 season.

During the 2020-21 season, the 34-year-old Victoria, BC product had an assist in three games with Gap in Ligue Magnus, which is the top professional league in France.
