Express send Howe and Devlin to Grande Prairie

The Coquitlam Express have traded 2001-born goaltender Joe Howe and 2002-born defenseman Ian Devlin to the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for future considerations.
Howe, a Barrie, Ontario product, is set to attend Cornell University this fall. He was 6-0 with a 2.62 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage in six games with the Express during the 2020-21 training season last fall.
Devlin was acquired by Coquitlam from the St. Michael’s Buzzers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League last month. The Memphis, Tennessee product had 22 points in 53 games with St. Mike’s in 2019-20.
“This was not an easy trade for us to make nor one we wanted to make. However, due to everything going on, this was the right decision to help Joe and Ian,” said Express general manager Tali Campbell in a news release.
Part of the future considerations in the trade is that Devlin’s rights return to the Express after this season.

The Vernon Vipers have signed 2000-born defenseman Seth Bafaro for the 2020-21 BC Hockey League season.
The Kamloopsian recently cleared Western Hockey League waivers. He is a veteran of 206 games with Tri-City, Saskatoon, and Vancouver.
“I’m really excited to get things going with the Vipers,” says Bafaro in a news release. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Vipers as an organization and I hope to contribute in a positive way on and off the ice.
He put up four goals and 18 assists in 62 games with the Giants during the 2019-20 season. Bafaro also had eight assists during Vancouver’s 2019 run to the WHL final.

Forward Tyler Carpendale (three goals, one assist in six games with Vernon during the 2020-21 training season) has cleared WHL waivers and is now free to sign with any team in the league.
The 2000-born left winger from Powell River has 11 goals and 19 assists in 89 career WHL games with Kamloops and Seattle.
In addition to the six games with Vernon this past fall, Carpendale played one game in the BCHL with his hometown Kings as an affiliate player in 2016-17.

Forward Diego Cuglietta (40 goals, 88 assists in 149 games for Merritt from 2012-15) was traded in the ECHL from the Utah Grizzlies to the Indy Fuel for defenseman Connor McDonald on Saturday.
The 25-year-old from Kamloops has two goals and nine assists in 12 games with the Grizzlies this season.
