Surrey Eagles captain and defenseman Kieran O’Hearn announced his commitment to Yale University on Monday.
The 2000-born blueliner had a goal and an assist in seven games with the Eagles during the BCHL’s extended training camp earlier this fall.
Over his two-year BCHL career split between Surrey and the Trail Smoke Eaters, O’Hearn has four goals and 21 assists in 110 games.
Grizz add Wood for 2021-22

The Victoria Grizzlies announced the commitment of 2005-born forward Matthew Wood for the 2021-22 season this past Saturday.
Wood, who’s from Nanaimo, has two goals and two assists in two games with the North Island U18 AAA Silvertips of the BC U18 AAA League this season.
He was fourth in Canadian Sport School Hockey League U16 scoring in 2019-20 with 71 points in 30 games for the West Van Academy U15 Prep team.

Defenseman Wyatt Head (14 goals, 68 assists in 146 games with West Kelowna and Coquitlam from 2017-20) has transferred from the University of Alaska-Anchorage to Mercyhurst University.
Mercyhurst has played six games and had four others postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 21-year-old from Kelowna, BC committed to UAA back in February, but last month the Seawolves opted out of the 2020-21 Western Collegiate Hockey Association season due to the pandemic.
In August, the school announced it was cutting men’s hockey and three other sports in 2021 due to budgetary reasons. A campaign is currently underway to raise funds to save the UAA men’s hockey program.

Forward Adam Rockwood (19 goals, 81 assists in 107 games with Coquitlam from 2012-14) has signed with MODO of HockeyAllsvenskan, which is the second-highest level of hockey in Sweden.
Rockwood, a 25-year-old from Coquitlam, had nine goals and 26 assists in 49 games with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits in 2019-20.
He also added two assists in eight games with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League.
