BCHL Today: Silverbacks rookie Bourgault commits to RPI, Christopoulos re-signs in Toledo, and more

 

Bourgault off to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Salmon Arm Silverbacks rookie forward Mathieu Bourgault took to Twitter on Thursday to announce his commitment to play NCAA hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The 2003-born native of St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec had two goals and an assist in a dozen games with the Silverbacks during the extended training camp season.

Sigalet returns to Frolunda

Defenseman Jonathan Sigalet (13 goals, 39 assists in 52 games with Salmon Arm in 2002-03) has been transferred from Brynas IF to Frolunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League.

The 34-year-old from North Vancouver, BC had a goal and five assists in 14 games with Brynas this season, his second with the team.

He previously spent three years with Frolunda from 2016-19.

Christopoulos re-ups with Toledo

Goaltender Billy Christopoulos (22-22-0 with a 3.05 GAA, a .906 SV%, and three shutouts with Alberni Valley in 2014-15) has signed a contract extension for the 2020-21 season with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Christopoulos, 26, played 29 games with Toledo last season. He had a 23-3-3 record with a 2.30 GAA, a .932 SV%, and one shutout.

Beck leaves the AHL for Germany

Forward Colton Beck (79 goals, 80 assists in 166 games with Langley from 2007-10) signed with EV Landshut of DEL2, which is the second tier of pro hockey in Germany.

The 30-year-old from Langley had 41 goals and 63 assists in 329 games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League over the last five seasons.

Blackburn moves up a level in Germany

Forward Liam Blackburn (67 goals, 127 assists in 163 games with Prince George and West Kelowna from 2013-16) has signed with the EHF Passau Black Hawks of the Oberliga, which is the third tier of hockey in Germany.

Blackburn, a 24-year-old from Prince George, had 18 points in seven games with ERSC Amberg of the Bayerische Eishockey Liga, the fourth tier of Germany hockey, so far this season.
