Clippers defenceman Mussio to sit for three games
Nanaimo Clippers defenceman Devon Mussio has been suspended for three games as a result of a major penalty for a blow to the head he received in Sunday’s game against Surrey. The penalty occurred at the 11:46 mark of the third period. Mussio also received a game misconduct.
He’ll miss Nanaimo’s games this Friday against Cowichan Valley and Saturday versus Powell River as well as Feb. 19 at Alberni Valley. The University of Alaska-Anchorage commit can return to the Clippers line-up on Feb. 21 at home against the Capitals.

Coquitlam Express defenceman Drew Cooper is the BCHL Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The 19-year-old Ferris State commit had two goals and four assists in two games for the Express last week. He has ten goals and 25 assists in 52 games for Coquitlam this season.

The Nanaimo Clippers got a commitment from forward Max Dukovac for the 2020-21 season. Dukovac, 17, has ten goals and 11 assists in 14 games with the Chicago Mission U18 team this season. Despite being from Aurora, Illinois, the Clippers noted in a news release that Dukovac has dual citizenship so won’t count as an import for them.

The Coquitlam Express and Penticton Vees are the lone two BCHL teams in the CJHL Top 20 Weekly Rankings announced on Monday. The Express moved up three spots to fourth in the CJHL while the Vees stayed steady at 14th in rankings.

Goaltender Hunter Miska (53-21-5 with a 2.03 GAA, a .924 SV% and seven shutouts in 80 games with Penticton from 2013-15) has signed a two-way contract with the Colorado Avalanche for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Miska has an 11-4-3 record with a 2.45 GAA, a .925 SV% and one shutout in 19 games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles this season. He also is 2-1 with a 1.62 GAA and a .947 SV% with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

Forward Lewis Zerter-Gossage (18 goals, 28 assists in 57 games with Penticton in 2014-15) has been reassigned by the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL to the Maine Mariners of the ECHL. Zerter-Gossage has two goals and one assist in 25 games with the Wolf Pack this season. He also has one goal and three assists in eight ECHL games for Maine.
