Silverbacks name Sansbury as captain

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks announced on Wednesday that 2000-born defenseman Hunter Sansbury will serve as the team’s captain for the 2020-21 BCHL season.
Sansbury, who’s from Lomita, California, had 24 points in 54 games with the Silverbacks as a rookie in 2019-20, joining them after three seasons at The Gunnery prep school.

Defenseman Aaron Bohlinger (seven goals, 27 assists in 55 games with Alberni Valley in 2018-19) has committed to the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) for the upcoming season.
The 2000-born blueliner from Walden, New York, had 16 points in 49 games with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League this past season.
Sweeney’s contract not renewed by Angers

Defenseman Riley Sweeney (14 goals, 47 assists in 113 games with Williams Lake and Surrey from 2009-11) won’t have his contract renewed by Angers in the Ligue Magnus, which is the top division of hockey in France.
Sweeney, 27, had 16 points in 40 games with Angers in 2019-20, his first season in Europe after playing two years in the ECHL. The Vancouver, BC product was also an assistant coach with the Surrey Eagles during the 2016-17 season.

Forward Jason Bowen (no points in one game with Chilliwack in 2017-18) has signed to play junior B in the Pacific Junior Hockey League with the expansion Chilliwack Jets.
The 2001-born forward hasn’t played since the 2017-18 season when he had six points in 25 games with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds U18 of the BC U18 AAA league.
