BCHL Today: Grizzlies get Ride in a three-way swap, Bucks move Dobson to Saskatchewan, and more!

Clippers pick up Turrin from Victoria

The Victoria Grizzlies swung a three-team, two-player trade that sees 2003-born defenseman Declan Ride end up in BC’s provincial capital.

First, the Grizzlies acquired 2001-born defenseman Cole Weinger from the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League for future considerations. Victoria then flipped Weinger along with future considerations to the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for Ride.

Ride, who’s from Mississauga, ON, and committed to the Miami University (Ohio), didn’t play anywhere during 2020-21 because COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in Ontario cancelled the season. Despite that, he was ranked 201st among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Bucks ship Dobson to Weyburn

The Cranbrook Bucks have acquired future considerations from the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in exchange for 2001-born defenseman Nick Dobson.
