BCHL Today: A pair of Rivermen alum on the move in the minors, Three Stars of the Night, and more

Former Rivermen forward McLain moved from AHL to ECHL

Forward Mitch McLain (38 goals, 54 assists in 111 games with Langley from 2012-14) has been assigned by the AHL’s Iowa Wild to the ECHL’s Allen Americans.

In 28 games with the Wild this season, McLain has two goals and two assists. He’s added a goal and an assist in four games with the Americans.

Former Rivermen forward Torrell traded in the ECHL

Forward Gage Torrel (36 goals, 52 assists in 82 games for Langley from 2013-15) has been traded in the ECHL from Fort Wayne to the Florida Everblades.

Torrel, who wrapped up his collegiate career at Lake Superior State last season, has five goals and seven assists in 36 games with the Komets and the Rapid City Rush this season.

Three Stars of the Night

First Star: Coquitlam forward Massimo Rizzo had two goals and two assists.

Second Star: Nanaimo forward Joshua Bourne posted two goals and an assist.

Third Star: Penticton forward Jay O’Brien scored two goals.

Honourable Mentions: Surrey forward Hudson Schandor notched a goal and two assists. Cowichan Valley forward Brady Lynn and Clippers forward Ethan Scardina each tallied two goals and an assist. Chilliwack forward Joey Larson and Alberni Valley forward Jacob Bosse each scored a pair of goals.
