Spruce Kings add Carter as assistant general manager

The Prince George Spruce Kings announced the hiring of Craig Carter as assistant general manager and director of player personnel. Carter served as director of player personnel for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks this past season.

He has over ten years of experience as a scout in the BCHL and also spent two seasons from 2017-19 as an amateur scout for the Minnesota Wild.

Seven BCHL alumni receive Canucks Alumni scholarships

The BCHL and Canucks Alumni announced seven new scholarship recipients for the 2019-20 season. Each former BCHL player receives a $2,500 scholarship to a Canadian post-secondary school.

The recipients for this season are:

  • Trevor Esau – Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Prince George)
  • Jeremy Lucchini – York University (Trail)
  • Spencer McLean – Grant MacEwen University (Trail)
  • Vincent Millette – University of Moncton (Nanaimo/Cowichan Valley)
  • Eric Margo – Queen’s University (Coquitlam/Nanaimo/Alberni Valley)
  • Marcus Tesink – Concordia University (Chilliwack)
  • Callum Volpe – University of Victoria (Vernon/Powell River/Chilliwack)

Three Stars of the Night ⏪ April 2, 2005

First Star: Nanaimo forward Blair Riley scored two goals in a 4-0 win over the Surrey Eagles.

Second Star: Vernon forward Dean Strong had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory against Prince George.

Third Star: Clippers goaltender Sebastien Nolet kicked out 22 shots in the win over Surrey.

Honourable Mentions: Vernon defenceman Andy Zulyniak and forward Cody McMullin each posted a goal and an assist. Spruce Kings goaltender Brad Thiessen made 32 saves. Clippers forward Brandon Laidlaw notched a goal and an assist.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
