Sochan commits to RMU

Surrey Eagles netminder Michael Sochan has committed to Robert Morris University for this September. Sochan, who’s from Redwood City, Calif., was 10-7 this past season with a 3.11 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and two shutouts in 17 starts for the Eagles.

The 2002-born goalie posted a 2.40 goals-against average, a .928 save percentage, and one shutout in a dozen playoff appearances with Surrey this spring. He spent the 2021-22 season with five different teams in the U.S. Hockey League, National Collegiate Development Conference, Eastern Hockey League, and North American Hockey League.

Cents looking to hire an athletic therapist

Kotylak commits to the University of B.C.

Humboldt Broncos forward Ben Kotylak (four goals, three assists in 30 games with Coquitlam and Nanaimo from 2020-22) has committed to playing U SPORTS hockey at the University of British Columbia this fall.

The 2002-born product of North Vancouver, B.C. finished the 2022-23 season with 23 goals and 40 points in 54 games for the Broncos. He added two goals and two assists in 10 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoff games.

Carmichael traded in the Western Hockey League

2003-born defender Elias Carmichael (no points in one game with Langley in 2018-19) has been traded in the Western Hockey League from the Kelowna Rockets to the Red Deer Rebels for a third-round selection in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

Carmichael, who’s from Langley, B.C., wrapped the 2022-23 season with six goals and 29 points as an alternate captain for the Rockets. He has 13 goals and 60 points in 192 career WHL games with Kelowna over the past four seasons.

Bradley leaves Austria for Germany

Forward Matt Bradley (no points in eight games with Surrey in 2013-14) has signed with the Straubing Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the 2023-24 season.

Bradley, a 26-year-old from Vancouver, chipped in 24 goals and 59 points in 47 games with the Vienna Capitals of the ICE Hockey League last season. He also totalled six goals and 15 points in 11 ICEHL playoff games for the Capitals.
