BCHL Bulletin: Eyre inks with Powell River, Spruce Kings pick up NAHL veteran Banquier, and more!

Kings bring in Princeton commit Eyre

The Powell River Kings announced the signing of 2004-born forward Noah Eyre for the 2022-23 BC Hockey League season.

Eyre, who’s from Vienna, VA, is committed to Princeton University for September 2023. He played 53 games of US high school hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s 18U Prep this past season, posting 16 goals and 38 points.

Spruce Kings nab Banquier from Odessa

The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed away 2002-born defender Charlie Banquier from the North American Hockey League’s Odessa Jackalopes. The Jackalopes receive a player development fee in return.

The Oakville, ON native spent the last two seasons in Odessa, tallying two goals, 25 points, and 198 penalty minutes in 104 games. Although from Ontario, Banquier has played no fewer than the last seven seasons in the United States.

Eagles bring in Palmer as a camera operator

The Surrey Eagles continue to flesh out their staff for the 2022-23 season and on Tuesday, they announced that Andrew Palmer will serve as one of their camera operators.

Palmer is currently attending BCIT as a student in the Television and Video Production program.

Dickson joins NW Hawks U18 AAA as an assistant coach

Scot Dickson (90 goals, 142 assists in 206 games with Surrey, Powell River, and Vernon from 1994-98) has joined the Vancouver North West Hawks U18 AAA team as an assistant coach for the 2022-23 BC Elite Hockey League season.

Dickson, a 45-year-old North Vancouverite, was an assistant coach for the NW Hawks U17 AAA squad in 2021-22.

Brian Wiebe

Brian's been involved in the BCHL in a variety of capacities for 17 years. From 2002 to 2012, he served in several roles around the Merritt Centennials organization, including as team president, board member, beat writer, colour commentator, webmaster, media and communications coordinator and marketing assistant. He's been writing about the BCHL since 2008 and served as colour commentator on the TSN 1040 broadcasts in 2012-13. BCHLNetwork is one of Brian's many passion projects that he balances around his full-time job as an instructor in the Radio Arts and Entertainment Program at BCIT in Burnaby.
