Spruce Kings snag Stockfish from Pembroke

The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired 2002-born forward Jack Stockfish from the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the Central Canada Hockey League for future considerations.

Stockfish, a product of North Bay, ON, was second in scoring on the Lumber Kings in 2021-22 with 19 goals and 50 points in 47 games as an alternate captain. He is committed to the College of the Holy Cross to play NCAA hockey in September 2023.

Eagles flip McNelly to Grande Prairie

The BC Hockey League announced on its transactions page on Monday that the Surrey Eagles traded 2003-born forward Ashton McNelly to the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for 2002-born forward Logan Lorenz, confirming part of the transaction that Surrey announced last Friday.

Lorenz, who’s from Consort, AB, split 2021-22 between Camrose in the AJHL, and Prince George and Vernon in the BCHL, compiling eight goals and 15 points in 43 games. There’s no word how his rights ended up going from the Kodiaks to Grande Prairie.

The Eagles acquired McNelly last Thursday from the AJHL’s Sherwood Park Crusaders in exchange for 2002-born goaltender Max Prazma and 2002-born forward Zack Feaver.

McNelly was an alternate captain for the Crusaders this past season. The product of Westlock, AB finished the year with eight goals and 23 points in 51 games.

Clippers defender Noel commits to Ferris State

2001-born Nanaimo Clippers defender Andrew Noel has committed to Ferris State University to start his NCAA hockey career this September.

The native of Maynard, MA finished the 2021-22 season with seven goals and 17 points in 51 games for the Clippers. He added six assists in Nanaimo’s 16-game playoff run.

Bulldogs bring Taylor into the fold for 2022-23

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs announced the signing of 2004-born defender Tristan Taylor for the 2022-23 season on Monday.

Taylor, from Anmore, BC, got into two games as an affiliate player with the Bulldogs this past season. His main club was the Vancouver NE Chiefs U18 AAA of the BC Elite Hockey League.

In 34 games with the Chiefs, Taylor potted seven goals and added 22 assists. He also posted a pair of assists in seven BCEHL playoff games.

Caps send Edwards to Blackfalds of the AJHL

The Cowichan Valley Capitals have sent 2002-born defender Jordan Edwards to the Blackfalds Bulldogs of the AJHL in exchange for future considerations.

Edwards, who’s from Saskatoon, SK, played 43 games for the Caps in 2021-22, finishing with a goal and six assists. He was scoreless in four playoff games with Cowichan Valley this past season.

Martin signs a deal with HC Grotto Presov

27-year-old forward Craig Martin (44 goals, 54 assists in 137 games with Trail, Vernon, and Alberni Valley from 2011-15) signed a contract for 2022-23 with HC Presov of Tipos Extraliga, which is the top league in Slovakia.

Martin, who is from Trail, BC, played in three games for the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers this past season and didn’t register a point. In 66 games with the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, Martin scored 25 goals and added 35 assists.

Coghlan shipped from Campbell River to Victoria

2003-born defender Ben Coghlan (two games with Powell River in 2021-22) was traded in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League on Monday from the Campbell River Storm to the Victoria Cougars.

Coghlan is from Nanaimo, BC, and had two goals and 15 points in 28 games for Campbell River this past season. He played his two games with Powell River on Nov. 27 and Dec. 4, respectively, last season.
