Donaldson is off to Cornell University
Nanaimo Clippers forward Sean Donaldson has committed to Cornell University for September 2022. According to the college commitment list on the BCHL website, Donaldson is the 10th player on the Clippers roster to secure his future at an NCAA Division I school.
The 2001-born forward from Vancouver, BC leads Nanaimo in scoring with 17 goals and 28 points in 19 games since returning to the Clippers in mid-October. He spent last season – and started this season – with Sioux Falls of the US Hockey League.
Matta commits to Western Michigan University
Salmon Arm Silverbacks defenseman Lucas Matta has de-committed from Northern Michigan University to commit to Western Michigan University.
Matta, who’s from Kleinburg, ON, committed to NMU as a member of Lake Forest Academy in April 2020. The 2002-born blueliner is the 12th Silverbacks player slated to attend an NCAA Division I school.
He is fourth in scoring among all defensemen in the BCHL this season with six goals and 16 points in 22 games.
Toye suspended one game by the BCHL department of player safety
The BC Hockey League department of player safety suspended Powell River Kings forward Branden Toye for one game after he received an instigating minor, a fighting major, and a game misconduct.
The 2003-born Kamloopsian was assessed the penalties during Friday’s 5-4 loss to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Toye sat out Saturday’s return matchup with the Bulldogs and will be back in the Kings’ lineup this Friday against Cowichan.
Chiefs bring in Bachler as an affiliate player
The Chilliwack Chiefs have brought aboard 2005-born forward Darius Bachler as an affiliate player. He made his debut with the Chiefs in Saturday’s shootout loss in Victoria against the Grizzlies.
The Langley, BC product has seven goals and 18 points in 18 games with the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the BC Elite Hockey U18 League this season.
Clippers add Ruthven to their reserve roster as an affiliate
The Nanaimo Clippers have signed 2004-born forward Jaxson Ruthven as an affiliate player for this season. He made his BCHL debut with Nanaimo on Friday in a 3-2 loss to Cowichan Valley.
The Vancouver, BC native is a full-time player with the Northwest Hawks of the BCEHL U18 this season, where he has five goals and 14 points in 17 games.

Coquitlam vs. Langley first career BCHL goals
2003-born rookie forward Dylan Fader of the Langley Rivermen scored his first BCHL goal at 9:32 of the first period in Sunday’s 4-3 win against Coquitlam.
The forward from Vancouver, BC was playing his 11th BCHL game and the goal was also his first point of the season. The Riv recruited Fader from St. George’s School U18 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
Warriors nab Zol as an affiliate player
Goaltender Angelo Zol has been signed by the West Kelowna Warriors as an affiliate player. He is a rostered player for the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA of the BCEHL U18.
He is 3-3 with a 3.15 goals-against average in seven games with the Rockets this season. Zol, a 2005-born netminder from Kelowna, BC, was dressed as the backup for the Warriors on Sunday in Salmon Arm.
Pacheco signs with Chilliwack as an affiliate player
Kitimat, BC product Chase Pacheco has signed as an affiliate player with the Chilliwack Chiefs and was added to their reserve roster.
The 2004-born forward has seven goals and 14 points in 17 games with the Cariboo Cougars U18 AAA of the BCEHL U18 this season.
Arthurs returns to the Victoria Cougars of the VIJHL
2003-born forward Desmond Arthurs has joined the Victoria Cougars of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, where he played two seasons ago and notched 32 points in 44 games.
Arthurs hails from Saanich, BC and posted two assists in 18 games with the Victoria Grizzlies this season. He had three points in 13 games with the Grizz in the 2020-21 pod season.

First Star: Surrey forward Jake Bongo had two goals and an assist as the Eagles dumped Nanaimo 4-1.
Second Star: Salmon Arm forward Simon Tassy had a goal and two assists as the Silverbacks topped West Kelowna 5-2.
Third Star: Chilliwack goaltender Cole Savage stopped 50 shots and three in the shootout as the Chiefs edged Cowichan Valley 3-2.
Honourable Mentions: Silverbacks forward Noah Serdachny finished the night with two goals. Riverman forward Riley Wallack, Eagles forward Cole Galata, Express forwards Kahlil Fontana, and Ryan Tattle each had a goal and an assist. Langley defenseman Joseph Messina and Warriors forward Alexi Van Houtte-Cachero each had a pair of assists.
