Express sign Bohmer and release Williams

The Coquitlam Express have signed 2003-born forward Nathan Bohmer of Crowsnest Pass, AB for this season. Bohmer had 17 goals and 23 points in 22 games with the 100 Mile House Wranglers of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League this season.

With the Bohmer signing, the Express released 2002-born forward Brendan Williams to make room on its roster. The San Juan Capistrano, CA native had four assists in 16 games as a rookie with Coquitlam this season.

Clippers forward Tardif suspended for a pair of games

The BC Hockey League department of player safety has suspended Nanaimo Clippers forward Charles-Edward Tardif for two games after he was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing in Wednesday’s 6-3 win over Alberni Valley.

The 2003-born Michigan Tech commit will miss the Clippers’ games on Friday at home against Cowichan Valley and on Saturday in Victoria against the Grizzlies. His first game back for Nanaimo is Jan. 2 in Coquitlam.

Wild bring in Picard for the 2022-23 season

The Wenatchee Wild has recruited 2005-born forward Ben Picard for the 2022-23 BC Hockey League season. The native of Oakland, CA has eight goals and 23 points in 25 games with the San Jose Sharks 16U AAA this season.

He was chosen by the Tri-City Americans in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2020 Western Hockey League US Prospect Draft.

Grizzlies add Paziuk and Walker as affiliate players

The Victoria Grizzlies have signed forwards Dante Paziuk and Logan Walker as affiliate players for the 2021-22 BCHL season. Paziuk is a full-time player with the North Island Silvertips of the BC Elite Hockey U18 League while Walker is a member of the Kerry Park Islanders of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

Paziuk, a 2004-born native of Nanaimo, BC, has nine goals and 17 points in 20 games for the Silvertips this season. Walker hails from Courtenay, BC, and the 2003-born forward has 14 goals and 31 points in 27 games with the Islanders this season.

Clippers signs Dallapace as an affiliate player

The Nanaimo Clippers have added 2002-born defenseman Daniel Dallapace as an affiliate player. The Burnaby, BC product is captain of the Port Moody Panthers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League.

In 27 games with the Panthers this season, Dallapace has four goals and 15 points, which is second on the team in scoring among blueliners.

BCHL signs a partnership with Travel Penticton

The BC Hockey League announced a partnership with Travel Penticton for its 60th anniversary event next month. The deal sees Travel Penticton having a visible presence during the event and sponsoring a contest in which a winner plus guest will attend the 60th anniversary weekend.

“While we are grateful to have the support of the host community in Penticton, it’s also important that we make this event for fans throughout the province and this initiative will allow us to host two of them that may not have been able to attend otherwise,” said BCHL commissioner Chris Hebb in a news release.

Forfellow signs with the junior B Chilliwack Jets

2002-born defenseman Owen Forfellow (one assist in 18 games with Coquitlam, Penticton, and Nanaimo from 2019-21) has signed with the Chilliwack Jets of the PJHL.

Forfellow, who’s from Abbotsford, BC, was traded by the Clippers to the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League on Dec. 8 but decided to play junior B with Chilliwack instead.

Red Wings bring up Hirose from Grand Rapids

Forward Taro Hirose (33 goals, 88 assists in 116 games with Salmon Arm from 2014-16) was called up by the Detroit Red Wings from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Hirose, a 25-year-old from Winnipeg, MB, has four goals and 19 points in 22 games with Grand Rapids this season. He is yet to play a game with the Red Wings in 2021-22.

Priskie called up by the Florida Panthers

Defenseman Chase Priskie (six goals, 14 assists in 57 games with Salmon Arm in 2014-15) was called up by the Florida Panthers from the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers on Thursday.

Priskie, a 25-year-old from Pembroke Pines, FL, has two goals and 11 points in 20 games with Charlotte this season and no points in two appearances with Florida.

Rochester sends Robson to Cincinnati

Goaltender Mat Robson (35-13-0, 1.94 goals-against average, .930 save percentage, and six shutouts in 49 games with Penticton in 2016-17) has been loaned by the Rochester Americans of the AHL to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.

The 25-year-old Mississauga, ON native is 7-6-0 with a 2.39 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage, and one shutout in 13 games with the Cyclones thus far this season. He’s also played three games with Rochester, going 2-1-0 with a 5.87 goals-against average and an .826 save percentage.

Marino called up to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves

Forward Kyle Marino (17 goals, 34 assists in 111 games with West Kelowna from 2014-16) was recalled from the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves on Thursday.

The 26-year-old product of Niagara Falls, ON has posted two goals and six points in 10 games with the Steelheads this season. He has also played four games with the Wolves but hasn’t scored any points.

Foley rejoins the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL

Defenseman Matt Foley (one goal, eight assists in 38 games with Merritt in 2014-15) was released by the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL on Thursday and returns to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

Foley, a 26-year-old from Longmeadow, MA, has a goal and three assists in 14 games with the Nailers as a sophomore this season.

First Star: Wenatchee forward Ean Somoza tallied three assists as the Wild dumped Merritt 6-1.

Second Star: Wild forward Cade Littler put up a goal and two assists.

Third Star: Wenatchee defenseman Brett Oberle finished the night with a pair of assists.

Honourable mentions: Wild defensemen Mario Gasparini and Brasen Boser notched a goal and assist. Merritt affiliate goaltender Brandon Weare made 39 saves.
