Express captain Cooper off to Ferris State University

Coquitlam Express defenceman Drew Cooper has committed to Ferris State University and will attend the Big Rapids, MI campus starting in Sept. 2021. Cooper has 20 points (7 goals, 13 assists) in 34 games for the league-leading Express this season.

Express netminder Stevenson featured on TSN 1040

Coquitlam Express goaltender Clay Stevenson is one of the front runners for most valuable player in the league this season. He was a guest on the Sekeres and Price show on TSN 1040 Friday afternoon. You can listen to the interview at the link above.

Surrey Eagles participate in Odd Squad program

The Surrey Eagles took part in a program offered by a group called Odd Squad, which is a non-profit association composed of current and former police officers. They take groups of youth, like junior hockey teams, to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside for them to see first-hand the dangers of gangs and addiction.

Vipers add Yale Hockey Academy forward Streek as AP

15-year-old forward Carter Streek made his BCHL debut on Friday night with the Vernon Vipers. Streek has been signed by the Snakes as an affiliate. He has 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in 16 games with the Yale Hockey Academy Midget Prep Lions this season.

Vipers tap Princeton blueliner for AP spot

Four year junior B veteran Noah Brusse has been added to the Vernon Vipers as an affiliate player. He made his BCHL debut on Friday against Penticton. The 19-year-old has 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) in 27 games with the KIJHL’s Princeton Posse this season.

Chiefs bring up three affiliate players for road trip

Chilliwack Chiefs affiliate forward Adam Grenier played his first BCHL game on Friday. The 16-year-old has 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 19 games with the Burnaby Winter Club Midget Prep team this season.

Grenier’s BWC Academy teammate Ty Gagno also played with the Chiefs on Friday in Langley. The 16-year-old has 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) in 18 CSSHL games with the Burnaby Winter Club this season.

The Chiefs also brought back forward Dawson Good from the BCMML’s Fraser Valley Thunderbirds as an affiliate player. Good has one goal in three games with Chilliwack this season. The 17-year-old has 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 22 games with the T-Birds as well.

Former Surrey & Merritt dman Gerlib joins AJHL squad

Defenceman Colten Gerlib (5 goals, 13 assists in 70 games with Surrey and Merritt from 2016-19) has joined the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Gerlib, 20, started the season playing college hockey in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League with Simon Fraser University. He had one assist in nine games with SFU.

First Star: Vernon’s James Porter Jr. made 42 saves for his first career BCHL shutout.

Second Star: Merritt forward Payton Matsui tallied a goal and added two assists.

Third Star: Wenatchee forward Brian Adams had a goal and two assists.

Honourable Mentions: Salmon Arm’s Noah Wakeford, Trail’s Tyler Ghirardosi, West Kelowna’s John Evans and Powell River’s Reilly Moran each had two goals for their respective teams.
