The NHL released the protected lists for the Seattle Kraken expansion draft on Sunday.
Once all the names were known, there are 36 players with BC Hockey League experience available for the Kraken to select. The Penticton Vees have the most alumni available with six. The Coquitlam Express is next with five and Salmon Arm Silverbacks with four.
Merritt, Surrey, West Kelowna, and Victoria each have four former players up for the Kraken’s consideration. Nanaimo and Trail have two alumni available while Chilliwack, Cowichan Valley, Langley, Prince George, Quesnel, and Vernon each have one.
Seattle will choose one player from each of the NHL’s teams other than the Vegas Golden Knights, who are exempt from the expansion draft. The Kraken must also take a minimum of 14 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goalies from the lists of unprotected players.
The draft is set for this Wednesday at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. All of the teams’ protected lists are available here.
