14 players with BCHL experience begin quest for 2025 Stanley Cup

A total of 14 players with BCHL experience will compete in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Additional former BCHLers may be called up from the American Hockey League before the first playoff games on Saturday, but as of the end of the National Hockey League regular season, these are the BCHL alumni on NHL rosters.

Last year, the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers didn’t have any players on their playoff roster, but the runner-up Edmonton Oilers had two — defenders Vincent Desharnais and Troy Stecher.

Our list includes players who served as affiliates in the BCHL, like Gage Goncalves.

The Carolina Hurricanes lead the way with three players with BCHL experience on their roster as of the beginning of the quest for the Stanley Cup. At the same time, the Colorado Avalanche, Montréal Canadiens, and New Jersey Devils have two each. Nine of the 16 teams participating in the chase for Lord Stanley’s Cup feature a player with BCHL experience on their rosters.

The Chilliwack Chiefs and Penticton Vees have the most NHL playoff performers this year, with three alumni each on the list. The Surrey Eagles, Victoria Grizzlies, and West Kelowna Warriors have two former players in the NHL playoffs, while Merritt, Quesnel, and Salmon Arm each have one.

Players are listed alongside the BCHL club with which they’ve played the most games.
