Defenseman Troy Stecher (18 goals, 91 assists in 159 games with Penticton from 2010-13) has signed a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings as an unrestricted free agent.
The contract is worth $1.7 million US per season. Stecher, 26, spent the last four seasons with the Vancouver Canucks and put up 75 points in 286 games for his hometown team.

The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Curtis McKenzie (33 goals, 41 assists in 102 games with Penticton from 2007-09) to a one-year, two-way contract.
The deal pays the 29-year-old $700,000 in the NHL and $325,000 in the American Hockey League. He had 42 points in 61 AHL games in 2019-20.
Carr joins the Capitals as a free agent

Forward Daniel Carr (10 goals, 17 assists in 22 games with Powell River in 2009-10) has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Washington Capitals.
The 28-year-old signed a short-term contract with Lugano in the Swiss League in September that runs through November 15. He has three points in two games with Lugano thus far in 2020-21.
The contract with Washington pays Carr $700,000 in the NHL and $415,000 in the AHL.

Defenseman Tyson Barrie (two assists in three playoff games with Victoria in 2006-07) signed a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday as an unrestricted free agent worth $3.75 million.
The 29-year-old from Victoria had 39 points in 70 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019-20. He has 346 points in 554 career NHL games.

Defenseman Devon Toews (17 goals, 59 assists in 102 games with Surrey from 2011-13) has filed for salary arbitration with the New York Islanders.
Toews, 26, is a restricted free agent who had 28 points in 68 games with the Isles in 2019-20, his second season in the NHL. The Abbotsford, BC product is coming off a two-year contract that paid him $700,000 per season.

Unrestricted free agent forward Dryden Hunt (no points in four games with the Trail Smoke Eaters in 2010-11) has signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Arizona Coyotes.
The 24-year-old from Cranbrook had four assists in 21 games with the Florida Panthers this past season. He also added 29 points in 35 AHL games in Springfield.
