BCHL partners with Shaw to raise funds for charity

The BC Hockey League announced a partnership with Shaw on Monday that sees all 17 teams in BC help raise funds for a charity in each of their communities.

The teams partnered with a charity and between now and May 31, people can make a $10 donation by texting the charity’s unique code to 41010.

Shaw has agreed to match the donations dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $3,000 per charity.

Rockwood signs a deal with Ilves

Forward Adam Rockwood (19 goals, 81 assists in 107 games with Coquitlam from 2012-14) has signed with Ilves of Liiga, which is the top level of hockey in Finland.

Rockwood, 25, had four goals and 20 points in 24 games this season with MODO of HockeyAllsvenskan, the second tier of pro hockey in Sweden.

The Coquitlam native’s contract with Ilves runs through the end of the 2020-21 season.

McClure joins German squad Augsburger

Forward Brad McClure (69 goals, 57 assists in 111 games with Penticton from 2012-14) has signed with Augsburger Panther of Deutsche Eishockey Liga, the top tier of hockey in Germany, for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

The 27-year-old from Stratford, Ontario had two goals in six games with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades since signing with them in mid-February.

Emmerson named Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey general manager

Jordan Emmerson (69 goals, 90 assists in 210 games with Nanaimo, Langley, Penticton, Cowichan Valley and Merritt from 1999-2003) is the new general manager of the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association.

Emmerson, 39, has served as director of player and coach development for the Langley Minor Hockey Association since 2016.

The Abbotsford, BC product was an associate coach for the Langley Rivermen from 2011-13.
